 A long-standing Sargent tradition, the Holiday Shoppe is one of our most loved student events. Every child gets the chance to shop independently for the special people in their lives, giving them a rare and meaningful moment of ownership in gift-giving.
Last year, the amazing Audrey Posteraro brought this event completely in-house, moving away from costly third-party companies and instead sourcing items ourselves. This change made a huge difference. Every item in the shop is under $5, with most priced between $1 and $2. Just as importantly, it allows us to support students who may run out of funds or need help covering gifts for everyone they want to shop for. Affordability and access for all are central to this event. We work hard to ensure every child can fully participate and experience the joy of giving. How it works: • Your child has already received a form home in their backpack. Please complete it together to list who they would like to shop for and plan a simple budget. • You can send funds via Venmo to @SargentElementary-PTO. Any unused money will be returned, or you may choose to donate the remainder to the PTO to help support other students. Or you can send your child in with cash. • During the week, your child will visit the Holiday Shoppe with their class. Our wonderful volunteers will be there to guide and support them while they shop. The joy and pride the kids experience during this event truly cannot be overstated. If you have time to volunteer, we would love your help. We promise it will leave you full of holiday spirit. With the incredible support of our community and generous local businesses — Melzingher, Carter’s, The Roundhouse, and Blue & Honey — we raised over $800 for the Sargent School community! A big shoutout to St. Rocco’s for hosting us and donating the space, Adrian for being the best MC ever, and Molly “White” for keeping those numbers rolling! This October 17th, from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM, the spooky wilds of the Upper Lot will come alive with Halloween magic! Journey through our frightful series of Halloween-themed trunks, perfect for trick-or-treating fun. Shake your bones in our eerie graveyard dance party, snap a spooky family photo in our ghostly photo area, or grab a bite of non-candy treats from Mean Dogs! Come dressed in your Halloween best and join the festivities! Thanks to Ms. Biordi, the parking lot will be well-lit again this year, ensuring the safety of all our little trick-or-treaters as they enjoy the evening. While there's a suggested donation of $5 per family, it's completely optional—everyone is welcome to join the fun! TRUNK DECORATORS & VOLUNTEERS!
